Meliora Is Latin for Better

Better. If you are reading this you are seeking to do better, make better choices, and find better products. Lucky for you, there is Meliora. I came across Meliora when I was researching laundry products but they make a lot more than just that. There are so many things about this company I like and I have yet to try everything they offer. Here are a few of products I love:

Laundry Detergent

Meliora makes the best laundry detergent I have ever used. When you make your first purchase of laundry detergent, you can buy their cardboard/ steel canister of powder. It comes filled and with a small plastic scoop. The best part is after you own the canister and scoop, you can buy their refill bags. The refill bags of powder are shipped in a brown, compostible bag. All you have to do is remove the tin tie and recycle it before pouring the powder into the canister. The bags do not come with a new plastic scoop which equals no waste! Another option would be to never purchase the canister and use an old container instead to hold the refill bags. You will also need a tablespoon to scoop the powder out. I wish I had chosen this option.

If you have never taken the time to read the ingredients on the laundry detergent you are currently using, you should. You might be surprised how many chemicals are in detergent. There are toxic chemicals in most laundry detergents that are bad for the environment and bad for your body. Melioras laundry detergents are plastic free, dye-free, preservative-free, palm-oil free, cruelty-free, and synthetic fragrance free. This company is so transparent about their ingredients and all the detergents smell amazing!

Cost: I compared Meliora to Tide because Tide is the number one selling brand of laundry detergent. Tide sells a million and one choices of detergent so here is just one example.

Laundry Stain Removal

I recently purchased Meliora's laundry stain removal stick and it has not let me down. It is used like any stain remover; just apply it to the stain before washing. The major difference is Meliora's stick... is a stick. It isn't a liquid sold in a plastic bottle. The stick comes in a compostible cardboard box so NO WASTE! You simply just wet the fabric where the stain is and rub the stick on top. I store my stick back in the box or you could use an old Tupperware.

Cost: This one is hard to compare because it is hard to tell how many stains the stick will remove vs. how many stains a liquid can remove. It also depends on how much you spill...

All Purpose Cleaner

Meliora also makes an all purpose cleaner. My favorite part about their cleaning products is they come in plastic free cardboard/ steel canisters. The all purpose cleaner comes in solid form that get's mixed with water. Next time you run out of all purpose cleaner, save the bottle, buy this stuff, mix it up= no waste!

Cost: There is a number of cleaning products on the market for counters, floors, dusting, walls, etc. How many of those products do you use? How many of those products are single use (cough... Clorox wipes)?! Well, this product does it all.

Side rant: CLEANING WIPES! Yes, I know they are convenient but is it really that much more work to grab a rag and squirt bottle? Every single wipe ends up in our landfills. Here is a little tip- next time you have an old T-shirt you want to throw out, cut it up into small squares. Keep these small rags and a squirt bottle of cleaner under your kitchen sink or where ever you normally keep cleaning wipes. I promise you will barely notice a difference.

Gentle Home Cleaning Scrub

We use the cleaning scrub on our glass stove top, in the toilets as toilet bowl cleaner, and in the bathtubs. You simply sprinkle a little on a wet surface, rub, and rinse. It works really well on tougher messes.
